The Grange accommodation and meals
The Grange Ellesmere Shropshire
The Grange rooms will be made up with bed linen, and towels are provided. Most of the 15 rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Each room has a tray with a kettle and teas and coffee. We don’t come into your room while you are here but if you need anything you can let us know.
Meals are home-cooked and we are often praised for the quality of our food. We enjoy good food ourselves so always strive to provide the best for our guests, using home grown and local supplies as much as possible. We try to accommodate the requirements of each guest staying with us, Please let us know well in advance if you are a vegetarian and/or have an allergy.
The Grange has a residential licence and a house wine by the glass can be purchased with your meal. Free WiFi is available in parts of the house.
The Grange as a venue for your group
The Grange can offer fully catered venue space for groups running book arts courses or women’s retreats (optimum capacity 16) but as we have regular bookings of this nature, we regret that availability is often limited. Please contact us if you would like further information and prices or to discuss dates.
The Grange is just outside the pretty market town of Ellesmere, renowned for its beautiful mere (lake) and canal. A five minute walk takes you into the town or to the mere. Further afield are the towns of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Chester – all of which can make an interesting excursion. And of course the beautiful Welsh borderlands are very close at hand (approximately 10 miles away).
How to get to the Grange
The Grange is only 17 miles north-west of Shrewsbury. From the roundabout in the centre of Ellesmere take the A528 (signposted to Wrexham). The Grange is 500 yards on the right.

Hordley Hall is in a very peaceful and tranquil location. It is the perfect retreat for walking, cycling, and touring holidays. Ideally situated within easy access of the A5 for the historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Chester and Llangollen. There is a large attractive garden to sit back and relax in.
The History of Hordley can be traced back to the Doomsday Book. The church was built adjoining the “Manor House” which was occupied by the “Lord of the Manor” until 1712 when the Kynaston family moved to Hardwick Hall. The Manor House was converted into two farmhouses, Hordley Hall and Church Farm. Hordley Hall remained in the Kynaston Estate until 1974. It was sold as a private house in 1976 and is now available for you to enjoy as a retreat. It is set in landscaped gardens in the beautiful North Shropshire Lake District.
